Recommendations From a Local

A lot of people ask me for recommendations when they visit Tybee Island. This page provides my opinions, as a local, on some of the best places and things to do

Food

  • RAW Ingredients

If you like sushi this place is for you. I’ve been eating here regularly since the day they opened and have never been disappointed.

  • Ripe Ingredients

Next to RAW is a smoothie place called RIPE, owned by the same people, and the smoothies are amazing!

  • Sunrise Cafe

A relaxed breakfast place. It reminds me of Waffle House, but better. You can also see a 25 foot custom print I did for them on their wall!

  • Salt Island

Great seafood, burgers, craft beer and more! I definitely recommend checking out their menu because you will find something you like.

  • Bubba Gumbo’s

A fantastic seafood restaurant on the north end. Its the only place on the island where you can eat fresh caught local shrimp. It really does make a difference!

  • Sundae Cafe

Outstanding food and the finest dining on the island! They have a delicious dinner menu that I can’t recommend enough. Just make sure to make a reservation beforehand.

  • Seaside Sweets

This is my personal favorite ice cream shop on the island. I can’t get enough of their malts!

  • Zunzi’s

South African food that’s both comforting and familiar, but also fun and different. You can enjoy a smoked sausage sandwich with delicious chips along with their mouth watering sauce.

  • Huc a Poos

This is THE pizza place on the island. One slice is a quarter of a whole pizza and it’s both delicious and cheap! And it is very lively at night.

  • Tybean

Coffee! Located next to Huc a Poos, this is THE coffee place on Tybee. The menu is so large it takes up a whole wall.
