Next, I use my flash to further enhance the lighting. By bouncing the flash off the ceiling and walls, I create a soft, even light that removes harsh shadows and unwanted color casts. This step can take anywhere from two to four hours, depending on the size of the property.
Step 2: Creating the HDR Images
Once the shoot is complete, I bring all the images into Adobe Lightroom to merge the HDR photos. Here, I fine-tune the white balance, adjust the exposure, and bring out details in both the highlights and shadows.
Step 3: Blending Flash and Ambient Light
After the basic edits, I move to Adobe Photoshop, where the magic really happens. Using my Wacom tablet, I carefully blend the flash images with the natural ambient light. This process allows me to create a well-lit but natural-looking photo, keeping the warmth of the room while controlling unwanted color casts.
This is my favorite part of the process, even though it’s the most time-consuming. The end result is an image that looks bright, inviting, and professionally lit, without looking artificial.
Step 4: Final Adjustments
Once the blending is done, I bring the images back into Lightroom for the finishing touches. I adjust the crop, enhance fine details, and make sure the final image looks polished and professional.
Step 5: Retouching and Delivery
Finally, I use Photoshop to remove anything distracting, like wires, outlets, or stray objects. This ensures that the home looks its absolute best.
Once everything is perfect, I deliver the final images to my clients within 1-3 days. Quick turnaround is key in real estate, and I make sure my clients get high-quality images without long delays.
